The Elrow Family Brings Their Party Extravaganza to Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE!

On May 27th, Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE will be taken into the magical world of the “elrow family.” The family of six generations, have been entertaining since the year 1870. From Barcelona, London, and Ibiza to Amsterdam, Miami and Milan, they are now ready to bring their outrageous theatrics to the U.A.E. The history of the family dates back to 1870, when a café in a small town in the middle of Spain called Fraga would lead the way to a lifetime of entertainment projects and legendary festivals. A concert hall,a dance and entertainment centre, an illegal desert music festival,  an urban club, and the rise of Spain’s leading electronic music promoters.

Elrow was brought to life in 2008 in Barcelona’s airport district. Since then, it has become famous for its monthly daytime sessions in a semi open-air venue with up to 4,000 clubbers at every event. Extravagant themes, decoration, performers, artists, sold out venues, would allow it to become one of the landmarks of the Spanish and European clubbing scene in just a couple of years.

Previous themes have included, the colourful ‘Bollywood’, the wild ‘Singermorning’, the authentic ‘Feria de Abril’, and the exotic ‘Sambódromo do Brasil’ . During the summer of 2016 , elrow will be present at more than 20 festivals in 10 different countries, and one of those include the United Arab Emirates with a psychedelic theme that’s never been seen before in the region.

Luxury Travel’s New Norm

Travel is the only thing you buy that actually makes you richer. For centuries man has wandered the face of the Earth; in search of land, resource, power, in search of himself. Travel has evolved over the years, we now travel not for things and possessions but for experiences. Luxury travel buzzwords like authentic, local, curate, and, of course, experience may be overused, but they have become buzzwords because of their phenomenal staying power. While some trends fade with time, some just seem to resound with customers from one year into the next. Here’s how we see the trends shaping up at the high end of the market for the rest of this year and into the next.

  1. Make it Local

Travelers want to be with locals, they want to be immersed in a destination. Instead of guides who know a lot of facts, they want insiders who can really give them the lowdown. Or they want a nightlife host who can take them to the coolest bars and nightspots and tell the story from their own perspective. Hotels are training staff to become experts in all things local. It is no longer about going to the most expensive restaurant, it about going where the locals go; immersing oneself in the indeginous experiences.

  1. Authenticity is key

Travellers seek want to get a sense of the land and all its culture;  from diving into the deeps blues in the Maldives to stomping grapes at a Tuscany Vineyard. Striking the balance between authentic and convenient is becoming more and more of a challenge for luxury travel and hospitality providers. Catering to these extensive demands but ensuring the voyager’s convenience and safety is always paramount.

  1. Personalization All the little things:

An experience is all in the little things, the small enhancement to the moments and memories a traveller seeks. The best way to provide this is through small touches. Travel providers are increasingly customising experiences to fit each traveller or group; and that truly is what makes all the difference. A couple honeymooning in Africa made it to their camp after a long week of travelling to find pictures of their loved ones on the walls; a family celebrating a reunion was escorted to a special Tuscany vineyard where they were able to create their own personalized wine, which will now be aged, bottled and shipped to them.

  1. Hip at the high end

Travellers will always spend money on something that is considered hip, on trend and totally desirable. But being hip is not enough, hip and luxury need to go hand in hand to ensure the best experience.

  1. Whimsical Wanderings:

Travellers increasingly look for whimsy and spontaniety in their wanderings. Some people just want to go to a far away land and let their heart decide where they go from there.  From walking the quaint streets of Rome to discovering a hidden gem in New York – travelling is no longer a scheduled actvity.

  1. Make it meaningful

With the world leaning towards organic and fair trade practices, travel has also become more of a conscientious exercise. Whilst travellers want to encounter a real life elephant, they want to do so in the wild, without forcing the animal into any kind of exploitation. They want to drink local coffee, but from the one farm that employs fair trade policies. Its all about moral and emotional health with travel wealth.

  1. Fun with food

Foodie tours are becoming increasingly popular, on a vespa in Ho Chi Minh City, the Bali boat bite tour! Food is a stronghold for a cultural experience, and travellers always want to fit as much in as possible.

  1. Long Term Travel

In order to ensure a hollistic and comprehensive experience of the world, people are opting for long term travel planning; travel providers work on chunks of 5 to 10 years, formulating plans for travel that enable the clients to see as much of the world in the most efficient manner possible. With this new inclusion in the luxury travel market, you can literally map out your life!

  1. The Human Touch

Even young people don’t just want to be digital beings, they want to engage with other people—whether it’s tour guides, people on the street, or other travelers. It’s like when electricity was invented. You would flick the switch on and off because of the novelty. Now the novelty of digital has faded and people want emotional connections.”

  1. Art is the new cuisine

While food has taken a central place in luxury travel, So many properties are recruiting an artist-in-residence and turning their public spaces into evolving galleries from local artists with revolving art exhibits. The new Faena Hotel in Miami Beach kicks up the art theme with a whole art district, art programs for guests, and a children’s art immersion experience where local artists inspire kids to create their own masterpieces. The Ritz-Carlton Toronto has an in-house artist who designs plates for the hotel’s restaurant and works with guests to design their own.

Another Year, Another Met Gala…

The year has certainly flown! Monday 2nd May saw the 2016 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC. Formally known as the Costume Institute Gala,  the event once again boasted a star studded guest list and couture red carpet. New York’s most exclusive party is chaired by Vogue’s unparalleled taste-maker, Anna Wintour, who extends invitations to the event personally. Alternatively, you can purchase a ticket for USD $30,000, however this still requires the Editor in Chief’s approval on assignment.
Casually referred to as “The Super Bowl of Fashion”, “The Fashion Prom” or “The official ATM of the Met”, the gala raised over USD $12.5 million for the museum’s Costume Institute last year alone. The 2016 Met Gala marked the opening of “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology”, exhibiting more than 100 unique fashion pieces as of today.  In a sea of silver, flock of feathers and field of flowers, the “Oscars of Fashion” certainly did not disappoint. Here are our favorites.
